Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has hailed Chelsea's new signing Timo Werner, saying everyone at the club knows about the striker.
The forward completed a £47.5 million move to the London club from Germany side RB Leipzig in June, having impressed in the Bundesliga with 34 goals in 45 appearances.
His arrival does not turn Frank Lampard's side into immediate title contenders, but Gudongan is convinced he has strengthened the Blues' frontline.
"Believe me: Everyone at City knows about Timo Werner. Many of my team-mates asked what kind of guy he is. He deserves respect," the City midfielder told SportBild.
Gundogan further paid tribute to another of the Blues' main target, Kai Havertz, saying he is even better than Michael Ballack, one of the best German players in recent history.
"In my opinion, Havertz is even better than Ballack in terms of his playing ability. Ballack had a certain level of aggression in his game, and a strong mentality.
"He was a top player of the previous generation - a bastard on the pitch, in a positive sense. Kai isn’t like that."
Chelsea are reportedly nearing a deal for the Havertz, who has also been compared to the likes of Zinedine Zidane.
Meanwhile, Gundogan and company at City are preparing for arguably their biggest match of the season when they host Real Madrid in a Champions League second-leg clash at the Etihad on Friday.
