Man City replacement for goalkeeper Claudio Bravo confirmed

Manchester City will take in goalkeeper Zack Steffen as a replacement for Claudio Bravo who left the club following the expiry of his contract.

The Citizens will bring in the USA international keeper back from his loan at Fortuna Dusseldorf to replace Claudio Bravo, whose four-year stay at the club came to an end yesterday.

25-year-old Steffen has had an impressive debut season in the Bundesliga, despite Dusseldorf’s relegation; the keeper having joined City from Columbus Crew last summer for a £5.2million fee which was an MLS record for a goalkeeper.

In his spell in Germany, he started the first 17 games, but a patellar tendon injury cost him his place in the team during the winter break and he received another setback on his return when he suffered a medial cruciate ligament in training that effectively ended his time at Dusseldorf.

The keeper will be part of City team in the comings season but is not expected to be the first choice keeper as the club see Ederson as the undisputed number one.

There have been reports that City will also ask Derby County if they can take Scott Carson on loan for another season, as third-choice stopper.

The 34-year-old Carson is in the final year of his Derby contract, and the Championship club is expected to land Wigan’s David Marshall as their new number one.
