Robert Lewandowski crowned a spectacular individual scoring campaign with the ultimate team prize in European club football in Portugal last night.
For all of his goal-scoring accolades and trophies in Germany, a UEFA Champions League winner's medal still eluded the 32-year-old Polish striker but RL9 finally has a medal that he richly deserves.
The elongated 2019-20 campaign was a stunning one for Lewandowski, who bagged 55 goals in all competitions, including 15 in the Champions League, just two short of Cristiano Ronaldo's all-time single-season record.
📈 Top scorers (all comps) in Europe's top five leagues
- 🇵🇱 R. Lewandowski: 55
- 🇮🇹 C. Immobile: 39
- 🇵🇹 C. Ronaldo: 37
- 🇧🇪 R. Lukaku: 34
- 🇩🇪 T. Werner: 34
Lazio striker Ciro Immobile beat Lewandowski to the European Golden Shoe with 36 Serie A goals making him the most prolific player in Europe's top five leagues, but Lewandowski is the most prolific goal-getter across all competitions.
