Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal is targeting two signings before the current window closes.
There have been reports that the North London side are doing everything to ensure that the duo of Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey and Lyon attacker Houssem Aouar is on top of the club radar as they seek to reinforce their side in readiness of the new season that began with a win against Fulham.
Arsenal is struggling to get Partey who Atletico say would cost them £50m as an asking price but the English side isn’t ready to meet the demands. According to the same story, the north London side is also interested in Aouar but the French side is looking to secure a transfer fee in the region of £40m according to the Mirror.
For the signings to happen, the club needs to offload a section of their fringe players and that has already kicked off with the sale of goalkeeper Emi Martinez to Aston Villa. Others who are expected to leave the club are midfielder Lucas Torreira and defender Sead Kolasinac.
Arsenal has already signed Lille centre-half Gabriel Magalhaes and Chelsea FC winger Willian, while the Gunners added Cedric Soares and Pablo Mari on permanent deals. Dani Ceballos has also completed a loan move to Arsenal for the second successive season.
After the win against Fulham, Arsenal will be up against West Ham at The Emirates on Sunday night.
