A Christian Fuchs' own goal and a late Eddie Nketiah strike were enough to hand Arsenal a 2-0 win away to Leicester City in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.
In a match that failed to fully sparkle, the Gunners were the first to get a scoring chance on the fourth minute as Reiss Nelson beat his marker and unleashed a thunderbolt from the edge of the box, but Danny Ward was equal to the task as he stopped it from going into the top right corner.
There were few chances in the first half, with the other clear-cut opportunity falling to the hosts on the 41st minute as James Maddison took a good first touch just outside the box and unloaded a shot that bounced off the right post.
The first goal however came in the 57th minute as Fuchs scored an unlucky own goal after he deflected a shot straight into his own net to give the Gunners the lead.
Leicester then came close to pulling level on the 83rd minute as a free-kick was whipped into the box and found Ayoze Perez, who planted a header just wide of the right post from close range.
Nketiah then ensured the Gunners progressed into the fourth round with a 90th-minute goal following a goal-mouth melee.
In other matches on the night, Everton continued with their good run with another 5-2 win away to Fleetwood Town.
Richarlison grabbed a brace, with Moise Kean, Alex Iwobi, and Bernard scoring the other three.
