🚨OFFICIAL: Luis Suárez joins Atlético Madrid

Uruguayan striker Luis Suárez has joined Atlético Madrid from FC Barcelona the club has confirmed.

The former Liverpool hit-man moves is said to have signed a two-year deal and move on a free transfer with the deal awaiting to be ratified after his medical tests.

In a statement, Atleti said: “Atlético de Madrid and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement over the transfer of Luis Suárez, subject to passing his medical and agreeing and formalizing the Uruguayan's contract with our club.”

Suárez was one of the highest-paid players but was told by new Barca boss Ronald Koeman that he wasn’t part of his plans with the player coming close in joining Juventus.

He, however, had issues obtaining an Italian passport meaning the 33-year-old will instead link up with Diego Simeone at the Wanda Metropolitano.

He comes in to replace Alvaro Morata who left Atleti to join Juventus just a day ago.
