Aston Villa seems not to be done yet with their transfers with the latest reports indicating that they are keen to take Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley on a season-long loan deal.
With the summer acquisitions at Chelsea, Barkley has been pushed down further the pecking order and the England midfielder is said to be keen on more playing time.
The Telegraph now reports that Villa manager Dean Smith wants to sign a new number 8 before the summer transfer window shuts and sees Barkley as the preferred player for his team.
The Blues are willing to let the former Everton man leave on a temporary basis if the Midlands outfit or any other club is ready to pay all of his £120,000-a-week wages something that might jeopardize the deal.
The reports further claim that Villa isn’t willing to do that and have identified Ruben Loftus-Cheek as another option should a move for Barkley fall through.
Villa can’t take the duo as Premier League rules only allow clubs to take just one player on loan from another club.
Both Loftus Cheek and Barkley want to be part of the England team in the next year Euros and that can only be guaranteed by manager Gareth Southgate if they play regular club football.
