Tottenham Hotspur have advanced to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup after beating Chelsea 5-4 on penalties on Tuesday night.
Timo Werner opened the scoring for the Blues in the first half before Eric Lamela netted an equalizer seven minutes to stoppage time to send the tie to penalties. After nine perfect spot-kicks Mason Mount fails to find the net, sending Jose Mourinho's men into the quarter-finals.
Chelsea took the lead in the 19th minute through Timo Werner, who scored his first goal for the Blues. It was a moment debutant Reguilon would want to remember after he lost the ball, allowing the away side to attack down the right as Hudson-Odoi fed Azpilicueta.
Reguilon got back to try and cover, but Azpilicueta sold him a dummy and turned back before picking out Werner just inside the box, who steadied himself before firing a powerful effort into the bottom corner.
Spurs drew level in the 83rd minute through Eric Lamela. Reguilon worked the ball with one touch, bringing down a long pass before shifting it past Werner. He teased a cross up to Lamela at the back stick his third, the forward took a touch before firing it past Mendy.
