Chelsea will hope that forward Timo Werner is back to action soon after the player was ruled out of Germany’s game against Turkey set for Wednesday.
According to the Germany national team assistant coach Marcus Sorg, the player had a slight cold and did not join the team on Monday but was expected to join the team in the next few days in their training base at Cologne.
"Timo Werner has a slight cold and won't join up with the team today," Sorg told the media.
Germany is set to meet Turkey in a friendly before taking on Ukraine and Switzerland on October 10 and 13 in the UEFA Nations League.
The team though was boosted by the arrival of Antonio Rudiger who left Chelsea for Napoli on deadline day with head coach Joachim Low confirming that the defender and Kai Havertz will start the game at the RheinEnergieStadion on Wednesday.
Werner played the full match in Chelsea's 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday and has scored just once in five appearances in all competitions for the Blues since joining them from RB Leipzig in the summer.
Werner has been an important member of the Germany team and holds 30 caps for his country scoring 12goals in the process since his debut in 2017.
