Klopp's provides update on Virgil van Dijk with reports of an ACL injury

Liverpool center-back Virgil van Dijk was forced off with an injury in the first half of the Merseyside derby after he was clattered by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, and now Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on his injury.

beIN Sports announced at half-time of the Manchester City vs Arsenal clash: “Information that we are receiving is that he’s done his Anterior Cruciate Ligament and if that is the case he’ll be out for the best part of seven or eight months”

This report has not been confirmed by the Reds, but it true, it surely damages the Champions' hopes of retaining the crown.

Thiago, meanwhile, was on the receiving end of a heavy lunge by Richarlison, which resulted in a red card for the Everton forward in the final moment of normal time.

Klopp said his post-match press conference: “When I left the pitch, Thiago told me in the red card situation with Richarlison he thinks he got injured. We will see if it’s true or not, but if he felt like this then we need to have a look.”

The manager had earlier said on Van Dijk: “I don’t know [how serious it is], I don’t know, but it is not good.

“Virgil played for us I don’t know how many games in a row. He plays with pain, he plays with pretty much everything, but he couldn’t play on. That’s not good.
