Manchester City came from a goal down to register a 3-1 victory over visiting FC Porto in the first Champions League group C clash.
Porto magically took the lead as they hardly had the ball but Diaz conjured up a quite sublime individual striker. He picked the ball up about 40 yards out on the left and drove inside towards the City center-backs. He beat Garcia with his pace then Cancelo made a very half-hearted challenge to try and stop him. The angle was tight and there was a lot to do but he fires a powerful and precise effort into the far corner.
City were awarded a penalty after Raheem Sterling was brought down by Pepe. Sergio Aguero stepped up to take it and his shot was too powerful for Marchesin, who got a hand to the spot-kick but could not keep it out.
In the 67th minute, Gundogan gave Pep Guardiola's men a lead. City had a free and four players had a meeting about who will take the set-piece from 22 yards. Gundogan pulled rank and executed the technique perfectly. He got the ball up and down over the wall and the curled of the ball made it hard to Marchesin to get anywhere near it.
Torres found Foden in midfield and looked for the return. As ever, Foden found him with a crisp pass straight into his path inside the box. Pepe came out to meet him but the striker shifted it away from him before firing a potent finish into the top corner.
