Laliga president Javier Tebas has blasted outgoing Barcelona president Josep Maria over his comments that the club had agreed to join the news European Super League.
FIFA intends to implement the league in a few years with the former Catalan president stating that he accepted Barcelona’s participation.
In a rejoinder, Tebas called the Super League a ‘Fantasy League’ and insulted Bartomeu’s football knowledge, saying the Catalan entrepreneur “lacked football knowledge on all fronts”.
“Bartomeu’s last decision is his participation in a fantasy league, destroying Barcelona, and which basically confirms his lack of football knowledge on all fronts, “Tebas said.
The relationship between Tebas and Bartomeu hasn’t been the best with the Laliga president having been under some scrutiny after he allowed the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia every January; a move that might tire footballers if they are to participate in the Super League.
Tweet from Javier Tebas - "Unfortunate Bartomeu announcing on his last day participation in phantom competition, which would ruin FC Barcelona, and confirming his ignorance of football industry. Sad finale for a president who did some things right, but ended up making mistakes."— Dermot Corrigan (@dermotmcorrigan) October 27, 2020
