Bundesliga fans have been banned from the stadium again by Germany as part of the Government measures to fight the second coronavirus wave.
A series of new restrictions were unveiled on Wednesday by Chancellor Angela Merkel as cases of COVID-19 including deaths rose across Germany. Crowds had started returning to the stadiums but fans will no longer be allowed to attend matches starting from November 2nd.
This could be a major setback to England's top-flight league who has been pushing the government to rethink its current ban on fans in stadiums.
"The Bundesliga and second Bundesliga clubs developed in the past weeks a health plan for the effective protection of spectators in the stadiums and agreed it with local health authorities," the German league (DFL) said.
"Fans and clubs then stuck to the rules with discipline living up to their responsibilities. That is why it is regrettable that this will not be possible for now."
The German government revealed that professional sports will continue to be played behind closed doors.
