Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has slammed the critics of striker Roberto Firminho following his goal against Leicester City on Sunday night.
There have been calls for the manager to drop the Brazilian following the form being exhibited by new signing Diogo Jota but speaking after the game, Klopp described everything that has been said about the striker s ‘’ridiculous’.
"What people say about him is ridiculous. I think it's because they've got nothing else to talk about. You cannot be closer to a goal than he was tonight and everybody thought the same at that moment when it was 3-0 with exactly the right goal scorer.
"He was outstanding tonight," Klopp told Sky Sports.
The 29-year old’s goal in the Leicester game was his second of the season and he will hope to add to his tally starting with their midweek Champions League game against Atalanta. After the midweek game, Liverpool returns to league action with a tie again Brighton and Hove Albion.
