Guardiola gives Sergio Aguero injury update ahead of Porto match

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed Sergio Aguero has not trained with the team ahead of their Champions League clash against FC Porto.

The striker has been out with a hamstring injury for weeks now but returned in City's  1-0 win over Olympiakos last week.

He was however left out of the squad for the 5-0 thrashing of Burnley at the weekend due to swelling of the knee.

Speaking ahead of the match, Guardiola revealed he was not part of the team that prepared for the clash away to Porto.

“I am not concerned,” he said at his pre-match press conference.

“He didn't train. He has some disturbance in his knee, nothing serious, but he didn’t train.”

With the club already through to the knockout stage of the competition, Guardiola has hinted at resting a number of his key players.

“I am thinking about it,” he added when asked if he would rotate.

“We have a lot of games. But it’s not rotation. Every game is played because the best player is selected for the specific game.”

He added: “No [Academy players won’t be used].

“We have 19 players fit for the first team squad and all will travel to Porto. It’s a difficult opponent. We need the best players as possible.”

City lead Group Grop C on 12 points, three ahead of Tuesday night's opponents, who could rival them for the top spot.
