Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that their loss to Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey cost his side a place in the knockout stage of the Champions League.
United went 3-2 down to Leipzig on Tuesday night to finish third in their group and according to the Norwegian, the team could have won their game in Turkey earlier in their group games.
"We weren't good enough. We started really well, but obviously, the big turning point or the big defeat for us was the one away to Istanbul. That was the one that you look back at and think that is where we lost the points which we should have had.
"Today we were close, but we knew we had to defend crosses, knew we had to defend balls in the box and we just couldn't clear them," Solskjaer told BT Sport after the game.
United will now proceed to the Europa League with PSG and Leipzig proceeding to the round of 16 of the competition.
