Gennaro Gattuso has confirmed that Victor Osimhen is guilty of breaking the club’s Coronavirus guideline after attending a surprise party that was created for him in Nigeria.
Osimhen was allegedly spotted in a video dancing in at the party, which was a few days after he was permitted to go home but under strict safety agreements.
Coach Gattuso told reporters he was disappointed in Osimhen, who tested positive for the Coronavirus after his return to Italy.
“When I made a mistake, Marcello Lippi used to say he’d let me stew in my own juices for a while, to recognise what I’d done. That’s what Osimhen has to do now,” Gattuso begun.
“He has already apologised, he’s a lad who gives his all when working. He made a silly mistake, he knows that.
“I am a coach, I don’t decide fines, especially as I was the one who gave the all-clear for him to return to Nigeria and so both of us were left embarrassed by what happened.
“He made a mistake and he will pay what he needs to pay,” Gattuso concluded to Sky Italia.
Meanwhile, Napoli is placed on fifth position with nine points behind log leaders AC Milan.
