🚨 Chelsea close academy following significant COVID-19 cases

Chelsea have been forced to close their academy for a week after they were hit with a significant coronavirus outbreak.

According to reports, the club informed the youth players and their coaches to stay away from their training grounds, after 20 players and staff tested positive.

The senior team and the women's teams are however not affected and will continue with their training as per their schedule.

The Under-23s who trained with the first-team ahead of yesterday's game with Morecambe have been unaffected.

This means Chelsea's Under-18s' match against Brighton and Hove Albion, which was scheduled for January 16, will now be rescheduled.

COVID-19 cases have led to rescheduling of many Premier League matches, with the Blues' match against Fulham pushed back by a day.

The match was initially set for Friday, January 15, but will now be played on Saturday, January 16.

The decision to reschedule the match came after the Premier League postponed Spurs' match against Aston Villa, whose players and coaching staff are isolating after testing positive.
