English Premier League giants Chelsea will do what it takes to sign Borussia Dortmund’s sensational striker Erling Haaland.
According to the leading outlet The Athletic, Chelsea are willing to meet Dormund’s release clause of around €75 million (£66.6 million), which will only be active in 2022, therefore the Blues will have to pay more to get the 20-year-old Norwegian in the coming summer transfer window.
“Chelsea want to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this summer even though his release clause doesn’t come into effect until 2022, Simon Johnson can reveal,” said The Athletic.
“The Athletic has been assured that Chelsea are determined to bring a top striker to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season and that Haaland is the player they want.
“Haaland has a release clause in his contract worth €75 million (£66.6 million) which is not active until the end of the 2021-22 season.
“Dortmund, who are reluctant to lose their star man, will therefore demand significantly more than the release clause for them to consider letting him go this summer instead,” added the report.
Meanwhile, Haaland is expected to increase his value after alreading delivering 19 goals in 17 matches this season despite missing a month through injury.
