Wolves 2-1 Arsenal: Leno and Luiz see red as Wanderers secure first Premier League win of 2021

Wolverhampton secured their first Premier League win of 2021 following a 2-1 victory over nine-man Arsenal on Tuesday evening.

The Gunners had a brilliant start to the game with Nicolas Pepe putting them ahead with a curler but David Luiz was sent off just before half time, conceding a penalty. Ruben Neves netted the leveler from the spot before Joao Moutinho scored a beauty after the restart. Bernd Leno was sent off for handling the ball outside the penalty area to kill any Arsenal's hope of saving a point.

Arsenal almost took the early after just 45 seconds after a huge let off by Wolves. Saka received a beautiful goal from Partey, the youngster raced onto the ball holding the challenge of Kilam before rifling a shot that hit the crossbar.

Minutes later, Saka grabbed the opener after the Gunners brilliantly worked in the ball. However, celebrations were short-lived as Lacazette was judged offside before passing the ball to Saka.

After a high pressing, Arsenal were rewarded though Pepe who curled a beauty into the far corner to give the visitors the lead.

Just before half time, the Gunners were reduced to ten men as David Luiz was sent off for bringing down Willian Jose inside the danger zone. Ruben Neves stepped up and made no mistake, leveling the scores from 12 yards.

At the restart, Wolves took the lead and it was a brilliant strike firm Moutinho, who scored his first-ever goal at Molineux. The midfielder lined up a shot from all of 30 yards, caught it so sweetly and it flew past Leno before cannoning in off the post.

Leno red card

Leno races off his line to cut out a long ball before Traore could gather but got it all wrong and then inexcusably punched the ball out of play. Referee Craig Pawson had no option but to brandish the red for deliberate handball.
