Solskjaer explains Edinson Cavani absence vs Man City

Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has explained the absence of Edinson Cavani from the clash against Man City.

The striker was expected to lead the lines for Solskjaer's side, but his name was missing when the team news sheet was made available, with his place taken by Anthony Martial.

The Uruguayan had returned to the team in midweek against Crystal Palace, having recovered from a minor knock.

Speaking ahead of the match at Etihad, Solskjaer gave an update on the former PSG man.

“He had to come off [in] training, he didn’t feel right, unfortunately.

”But Anto is available and that’s good news.“

In an interview with Skysports, Solskjaer further revealed the extent of the injury.

”He’s got a niggle again, unfortunately. He had to come off training yesterday. We had to make a team without him.“

His absence means he is yet to play against Pep Guardiola's side, having missed the past two; one due to an injury, and the other through suspension.
