Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia lost 0-1 to Posta Rangers in a league match staged at Kasarani on Wednesday 10, March 2021.
The defending Champions had no option but to win the game if they harbored any ambitions of keeping pace with the leading pack after losing to KCB in their previous match.
Even before they could settle, Gor were handed an advantage when the referee sent defender Michael Apudo off in the fourth minute for a rash challenge on Titto Okelo; a move that saw head coach Stanley Okumbi withdraw Simon Mbugua
Playing with a game less meant that Rangers saw less of the ball and while their opponents dominated and dictated play, they were willing to wait for the chance and attack on the counter and that’s exactly what they did when they took the lead in the dying minutes of the first half through Francis Nambute.
There was a series of changes made in the second half as Vaz Pinto looked to get an edge over his opponents but Rangers stood firm for their first win against Gor since 2011.
In another match of the day, visiting Western Stima held Zoo FC to a scoreless draw in a game played at Kericho Green Stadium.
