Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has hailed Vinicius Jr for his performance as he inspired the Los Blancos to a 3-1 victory over Liverpool in the Champions League.
Vinicius opened the scoring for Madrid before Marco Asensio made it 2-0 before halftime. In the second half, Liverpool reduced the deficit through Mo Salah but Vinicius restored Madrid's two-goal lead with a cool finish.
Zidane was impressed after seeing the youngster rise to the big occasion. Before his brace against the Red, the 20-year-old had only netted 12 goals in 105 appearances for the Los Blancos.
"I'm delighted for him, we are seeing some fantastic stuff from him right now," Zidane told reporters.
"We know how good he can be when he gets into space, as he showed with the first goal, which was fantastic."
Vinicius, who kissed the Real badge after each of his goals, admitted he was exhausted after his performance.
"I gave everything for this shirt, which I love so much," he said. "I work so hard here, I dreamed of playing for Real Madrid and with the best players and that's why I'm so keen, that's why I work so hard at training and at home.
"People on the outside can talk all they want but I always worked, my teammates have given me the strength I needed to get to this stage and score the goals we needed."
Vinicius signed for Madrid from Flamengo when he was just 16 and despite showing flashes of brilliance and exceptional dribbling ability, his time in Spain has often been overshadowed by lackluster finishing.
