Michael Owen states his prediction for Borussia Dortmund vs Man City

Michael Owen believes Manchester City will beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday night in Germany.

Last week, the Premier League leaders defeated Dortmund 2-1 in the first leg of their last-eight clash, with goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden.

Despite Marco Reus scoring an equalizer for the Bundesliga club just six minutes earlier, the English midfielder restored Manchester City's narrow lead in the 90th minute.

Manchester City will head to Germany fresh off a Premier League loss to Leeds United at The Etihad on Saturday.

Borussia Dortmund beat Stuttgart 3-2 in the Bundesliga at the weekend to keep their hopes of finishing in the top four alive.

Owen, a former Liverpool FC forward, is backing Manchester City to win 2-1 against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night in Germany.

“Following up with a defeat at home to Leeds at the weekend, it clearly took a lot out of the City players.

“Saturday’s performance was unlike the soon-to-be English champions, but it is possible they had one eye on this match and complacency crept in.

“The Citizens are desperate to add the Champions League to their ever-growing list of trophies, and if they are at the top of their game, I can only see one winner.”

Manchester City's only previous visit to BVB Stadion Dortmund, in 2012, ended in a 1-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund, with Julian Schieber scoring the game's only goal.

In the current Champions League season, Pep Guardiola's side has already defeated Borussia Monchengladbach over two legs.

On Saturday, Manchester City will face Chelsea FC in the FA Cup semi-final.
