Manchester United defender Luke Shaw was wholly inspired by the incredible Ashley Cole.
Shaw was the focus of Man United’s social media Q&A feature, where one of the questions wanted to confirm who he believes stands out as the model number three position.
The English international named his all-time left-back talent as Ashley Cole of Chelsea and Arsenal fame.
“I think looking back at when I was growing up and my sort of era and watching him a lot and basing my game a lot on him and what I wanted to be like as a player, then I would have to say Ashley Cole,” added Shaw.
“I’ve always been a massive fan of him and thought, when I was growing up, he was one of the best left-backs at that time. ‘For me, as an all-round full-back he was one of the best I’ve ever seen with attacking and defending, so I’d say Ashley Cole,” he concluded.
Cole retired in 2019 with three Premier League titles, seven FA Cups and the UEFA Champions League.
Up next for the Red Devils is Granada in the Europa League quarter-finals second leg, with United carrying a comfortable 2-0 lead from the first leg away.
