Dutchman Ronald Koeman has won FC Barcelona their first title of the season by clinching the Copa del Rey trophy after beating Athletic Bilbao 4-0 on Saturday night.
All goals in the game were scored in the first half with Antoine Griezmann breaking the deadlock just after the half-hour mark. Frenkie De Jong, who had assisted the first goal, then put his name on the scoresheet from Jordi Alba‘s ball.
Captain Lionel Messi then took matters into his own hands by netting a brace. He combined twice with De Jong after a 60-yard run from inside in his own half before tucking past Unai Simon and made it 4-0 on the night, sweeping home a trademark finish from Alba’s pass.
Barca is still on course for the Laliga title with the Koeman side currently placed third with 65 points; just two points below leaders Atletico Madrid.
