Liverpool 1-1 Newcastle United: Joe Willock scores at the death to deny the Reds chance to move fourth

Newcastle United secured a point in the stoppage time after forcing a 1-1 with Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.

Mo Salah gave the Reds an early lead and missed a number of chances which proved costly to Liverpool. Newcastle's leveler though Wilson was canceled but substitute Joe Willock snatched a point for the Magpies.

They deserved something from the game in the end but Liverpool will be kicking themselves.

Liverpool grabbed their opener in the fourth minute through Mo Salah. Mane's ball into the box was average at the best and Dummet won the first ball but failed to clear. Salah used his body to bounce Ritchie out of the way and in one movement hammered a half-volley on the spin that flew into the top corner.

In the 21st minute, Newcastle had the ball in the net but offside was given correctly. From a corner, Liverpool half-cleared it but Joelinton headed one back towards Alisson. Shelvey and Clark managed to beat the goalkeeper to the ball but both were two yards offside.

In the stoppage time, Callum Wilson scored the leveler but the goal didn't stand as he had bundled in an equalizer. Alisson made an initial save but it hit Wilson on the arm before bundling it in. However, after a quick VAR check, the goal was disallowed.

Seconds to full time, Newcastle scored again and this time, it counted. A beautiful pass was nodded into Woillock's path and his shot took a hefty deflection and went in.

The Red Devils are now sixth on the log with 54 points while Newcastle have 36.
