Bayern Munich’s incoming central defender, Dayot Upamecano, has confirmed choosing to continue enjoying the familiar shores of the Bundesliga.
The 22-year-old Frenchman was hot property all over Europe, including interest from English Premier League giants, but eventually picked Bayern in a €42.5 million (£37m) deal.
"I was sure relatively quickly that I wanted to stay in Germany and in the Bundesliga. I like it here, the level of the games, the fans, the stadiums,” the RB Leipzig youngster told Sportbuzzer.
"When FC Bayern gets in touch, you are really proud. It doesn’t get much higher, especially when you’ve played in Leipzig before,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Leipzig, who remain seven points behind Bayern with seven games left, take on Borussia Dortmund this weekend away.
