Barcelona set to put seven players on sale in the summer

Laliga giants FC Barcelona is set to put seven of its players on the market in the summer.

The Catalans have fallen behind the Madrid sides this season after a dismal performance in the Champions League with Mundo Deportivo reporting that manager Ronald Koeman wants a proper revamp in the summer if his team is to compete with the best in Europe.

Of the players set to be sold, backup goalkeeper Neto is likely to leave with the player said not to be impressed by his decreased role in the team. Defenders Samuel Umtiti and Junior Firpo will also be available in the summer if a buyer can be found.

Others set to be shown the door are Brazilian international Philippe Coutinho who is said to be a brainer to sell owing to his wages. Midfielder Miralem Pjanic, Matheus Fernandes, and Martin Braithwaite also said to be possible names on the departure list.

The report further states that Koeman is set for further talks with president Joan Laporta in the coming weeks and the Dutch boss will be encouraged to lighten Barca's wage bill this summer.

The main discussion in the meeting will be the extension of Lionel Messi’s contract with the players Koeman would like to bring on board in the coming season.
