Real Madrid have confirmed that midfielder Toni Kroos has tested positive for COVID-19.
The German international was absent from Los Blancos' 1-0 victory over Athletic Club on Sunday, which kept their LaLiga title ambitions alive.
The reason for this, according to the club, is that the 31-year-old was in close proximity to a contact who had tested positive.
Kroos has been in self-isolation since Friday, May 14, and will most likely remain in quarantine for the following week, meaning he could miss the LaLiga season's title decider final weekend.
On Saturday, Zinedine Zidane's team will face Villarreal, while Atlético Madrid will face Real Valladolid on Sunday.
