Barcelona has promised captain Lionel Messi a ten-year deal if he is willing to stay at the club beyond this summer.
Barca has a series of transfer targets currently but the top of their priority is a new deal for the Argentine who threatened to leave the club last season.
According to reports from El Chiringuito TV, Messi want to stay in Barcelona, and that there are multiple options being worked out, one of which includes President Laporta’s offer of giving the 33-year old, a 10-year long contract.
The lengthy contract would presumably be so that his current salary can be reduced given the club’s delicate financial condition, a fact Messi is well aware of. The deal would then have the provision for Messi to leave and play his final matches elsewhere, before returning to the club in a technical capacity.
Messi has been linked with a move to PSG and Man City with reports rife that City owners would bring the Argentine to the Etihad as a present for Pep Guardiola if he can hand them the Champions League.
Barcelona wants to settle the players' future as soon as the Laliga ends as he has a duty with the national team in the Copa America in the coming month.
