Leicester City could make Philippe Coutinho bid

Leicester City is planning to make a bid for FC Barcelona outcast Philippe Coutinho.

Coutinho has struggled to cement a place in the Ronald Koeman team and a niggling injury has not helped his situation with reports rife that the club is willing to let him go if they can find the right offer for the Brazilian.

According to Mundo Deportivo Leicester has an interest in the former Liverpool man, who has 41 goals and 37 assists from 152 Premier League appearances. The player has two years left on his contract with the club, but they are willing to sell him for just €20 million as they aim to get him off their wage bill.

Barca paid an initial fee of around €120m for Coutinho to Liverpool but the fee could rise to €160m based on the continental variables; the Reds guaranteed another €20m if the Brazil international goes on to make 100 appearances for the Catalan giants.

Despite his limited game time at Camp Nou, Coutinho has managed 37 goal contributions, and has the ability to create regular scoring opportunities but has been out since January with a knee injury. A setback meant that he had to undergo surgery in April, which ruled him out for the campaign.
