Mathare United's hopes of survival suffered a blow after suffering a 2-1 loss to Posta Rangers on Saturday afternoon.
Posta Rangers opened the scoring in the 10th minute through Jackson Dwang. Francis Nambute had possession of the ball in the middle before releasing Jackson Dwang through on goal. He had Job Ochieng' to be, and made no mistake, squeezing the ball from close range to hand Posta Rangers an early lead.
Joshua Nyatini was brought down inside the danger zone and the center referee pointed for a penalty. Jackson Dwang stepped up but his shot from 12 yards went wide as he failed to extend Rangers' lead.
In the 31st minute, Mathare had an injury concern as Kennedy Ochieng was limping and was subbed off with his place being taken by Austine Ochieng.
Four minutes to halftime, Posta extended their lead, Dennis Oalo had the ball before looking for Austine Achieng, who scored the second for the visitors.
Mathare reduced the deficit immediately after the start through Norman Ogolla, who grabbed his goal in his debut. The hosts had a freekick just outside the box, Ogolla stepped up and curled a beauty to the back of the net and the game was on.
