Lyon in advanced talks with Ajax goalkeeper André Onana

French giants Lyon are in advanced talks with Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana over a potential move this summer.

Sky Sport in Italy has reported that there is a five-year deal from the French side on the table that is largely in line with the goalkeeper’s requirements with the Cameroonian keen to try a new challenge.

The focus now is for both clubs to agree on a fee with transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealing that the clubs are moving towards a compromise on that front.

Lyon had offered €5m for the 25-year-old, but the Dutch outfit was looking for €10m; the goalkeeper is currently suspended from all football activity after testing positive for the banned substance Furosemide.

The Cameroon international was initially suspended for a year, but had it reduced to nine months after the Court of Arbitration for Sport accepted his argument that he had injected the substance “in error”.

The goalkeeper is available to take to the field of play on 4 November and is free to resume training in early September.
