English giants Manchester United are waiting to sign midfielder Leon Goretzka on a free transfer in 2022.
The Bayern Munich's midfielder has been linked with United this summer but the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer side has funds for other positions in the field and is unwilling to spend on the player.
According to Sport Bild, the player wants an improved offer at Bayern but the club is not willing to bow to his demands something that has alerted a number of clubs across Europe.
The deal might however be fast-tracked if United loses Paul Pogba this summer something that might not happen soon; Goretzka's current deal with Bayern is set to expire in June next year.
The reports say that United has made a concrete offer to the player's agent with Bayern offering €10-12 million for the player to sign a new deal. The player however wants a package of €20m to match Leroy Sane’s salary.
This has stalled negotiations between the player and the club. United has tabled an offer to his representative that exceeds Bayern’s proposal on the table.
Apart from United, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also said to be interested in the player and will be going for him next summer if he fails to sign a new deal.
