FKFPL: Ulinzi Stars gunned down by KCB as City Stars share spoils with Vihiga United in Nakuru

KCB came from a goal down to register a 2-1 victory over Ulinzi Stars in a Kenyan Premier League game played on Wednesday evening.

KCB were awarded a penalty early in the game after Mwangi was brought down inside the danger zone. Derrick Otanga was the man to take it, up against James Saruni, tried his trick but the ball hit the post.

Just before halftime, Ulinzi opened the scoring through Masita Masuta. A ball was sent forward and Masuta controlled it with his chest before unleashing a shot past Joseph Ochuka.

KCB got another penalty in the second after David Ambulu's cross was handled in the box. Otanga once again stepped but this time made no mistake, sending Saruni the wrong way to level the scores.

One minute to stoppage time, KCB managed to turn it around thanks to David Simiyu's strike. The forward was put through on goal and outpaced Bonventure Michika to slot home.

Ulinzi Stars could not get a leveler in the remaining minutes with KCB holding on to bag all three points.

KCB have now closed the gap between them and league leaders to four and have a game in hand. The Bankers remain second with 51 points after 25 games, four points behind leaders Tusker FC.

Meanwhile, Ulinzi are 10th on the log with 34 after 25 matches.

Vihiga United 0-0 Nairobi City Stars

In Nakuru, Vihiga United and Nairobi City shared spoils following a barren draw.

It was a game of chances but none of the team saw the back of the net after 90 minutes.

The clear chance of the game came in the 17th minute, Anthony Kimani was presented with a chance from a free-kick. He tried curler to the right but Morgan Ambuka was alert and pulled a brilliant save.

Vihiga responded through Luvanda Lawrence who tried to lift the ball into the area from a freekick but his effort was cleared by Salim Abdallah.

City Stars grew into the game and were impressive, Ezekiel Odera spotted the run of Kipkirui in space and set him up. However, Absalom was fast enough to make an interception and deny Nicholas.

Vihiga's Kevin Omondi was put clear through on goal but failed to beat Steve Njunge from close range.
