Gor Mahia suffered their fourth defeat in the last six Kenya Premier League games after going down 1-0 against Ullinzi Stars at the A.S.K Grounds in Nakuru on Monday afternoon.
It was a fairly balanced affair in the opening minutes, with the hosts settling first and pressing the defending champions at will.
Ulinzi's persistence and hard work paid off in the 18th-minute as they took the lead in spectacular fashion.
Masita Masuta's free-kick from the edge of the box hit the post and the towering Alex Masinde reacted quickest to plant in a superb header.

The soldiers with their trademark celebration.
The match lacked the expected sparks for long periods, with the second half similar to the first as Gor failed to find a proper rhythm with the hosts enjoying the larger share of the possession.
In the end, Ulinzi held on for the win, their third in the last six games, which took them to 40 points, same as the defending champions.
Nairobi City 1-2 Bidco
Elsewhere, Bidco United beat Nairobi City 2-1 at the Ruaraka Stadium.
David Orem gave Bidco United the lead in the 26th minute, after a neat Eric Gichimu low cut.
Gichimu was once again influential for the second goal just after the hour mark, finding David Gateri, who curled the ball into the top right corner with a half Volley for a 2-0 lead.
Nairobi got the chance to halve the scores in the 82nd minute when Rogers Okumu was fouled in the area by Oyuga, and Odera made no mistake from the spot for a 2-1 scoreline.
There was late drama when Bidco's Oyuga and Nairobi's Salim Abdallah were both shown redcards, but that could not affect the scores as the visitors picked maximum points.
