πŸ‡°πŸ‡ͺ Rupia to the rescue as AFC Leopards hold KCB, 10-man Mathare stun Ulinzi

Elvis Rupia scored his 17th Kenya Premier League goal of the season and helped AFC Leopards force a 1-1 draw against second-placed KCB in Thika on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bankers led through Samuel Mwangi's 23rd-minute strike, but Rupia pulled the Leopards level in the 75th minute to force a draw.

Leopards were lively from the opening minutes and came close to opening the scores in the ninth minute when Rupia set up Austin Odhiambo in the area, but his shot aimed for the bottom right corner missed the target by inches.

The Bankers then took the lead just before the half-hour mark when Wasambo made a well cut-through ball that found Mwangi in space, who beat Ochan from close range for a 1-0 lead.

Austin Odhiambo came close to making it level for Leopards, but his headed effort hit the crossbar.

They held on to the lead going into the break, with the match a more balanced affair between the two sides.

The second period was equally close, but it was Leopards who got the equaliser when Thiongo found Rupia with a long-range pass and he fired past Okoth.

KCB remain second on the log, three points behind Tusker, who lead the standings on 62 points.

Elsewhere, Mathare United beat Ulinzi Stars 1-0 in a match played at the Ruaraka Grounds.

The Slumboys made two changes to the squad that started their last fixture with Ogolla and Ndonye coming in for Ogutu and A.Otieno.

John Mwangi gave the hosts the perfect start after disposing John Kago just outside the area and proceeded to beat two other Ulinzi players before smashing the ball home from close range.

It proved the all-important goal as they held on for the win,  despite Ndonye going off after receiving a second yellow card in the 65th minute.
