Mathare United coach Frank Ouna is delighted to have helped his side avoid relegation.
United survived relegation after beating Ulinzi Stars 1-0 on Wednesday evening in an FKF Premier League match staged at Ruaraka Complex. Meanwhile, Western Stima were axed from the top flight following a 1-0 loss to Wazito FC in Thika.
"Credit goes to everyone involved at the club, from the players to the coaches and to the execs. We all did our duty to ensure we survived," he said as quoted by the club's Twitter account.
"This season has brought the best out of all of us because when the chips were down the greatness within us shone all through," he concluded.
Heading into the final game of the season, Stima have 22 points, four points behind Vihiga United who registered a 3-1 win over Kakamega Homeboyz to move into the play-off zone.
