Man United keen on signing Declan Rice next season

Manchester United are keen on luring West Ham midfielder Declan Rice to Old Trafford next season.

Rice was one of the targets for United this summer but a deal wasn't struck as his club wanted more money but with United failing to address their midfield problems in the just concluded transfer, going for Rice is being considered as a top priority next summer.

Manchester Evening News reports that the club are keen on the England international signature and are understood to have already discussed the necessary steps needed to take to sign the player.

Rice is contracted until 2024 but isn’t expected to sign a new deal, meaning a move next year is possible. West Ham are believed to value the Englishman at around £80 million but might be willing to reduce his price next summer.

The 22-year-old was an important player for the Hammers last season where he helped them towards European qualification but reports are rife that the player wants to participate in the Champions League.
United were keen on a midfielder this summer but fell short of cash after luring Raphael Varane, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Jadon Sancho in the same window.

The failure to sign a proper midfielder will force United to use Fred and Scot McTominay in midfield as Nemanja Matic as their third option; Donny van De Beek is expected to play a deeper role too this season.
