Jesse Lingard admits his best belongs to Man United

Jesse Lingard has admitted that his best years belong to Manchester United after notching the winner against West Ham on Sunday.

Lingard came off the bench in the London stadium to applause from both sets of fans having helped the Hammers to a Europa League spot last season.

The player however didn't show any mercy for his former employers as he tucked in a sumptuous goal with two minutes remaining on the clock but chose not to celebrate the strike out of respect to the Hammers fans.

"I got a brilliant reception. I had a good time here but I have to move on with Man United and do my best with Man United," Lingard said in his post-match interview.

After his goal, drama ensued in the dying minutes of the game when the home side were handed a penalty after Luke Shaw had handled the ball in his own box.

West Ham manager David Moyes brought in Mark Noble for the spot Kick but David de Gea saved his effort with the last kick of the game to earn United all the points.

Earlier in the contest, Cristiano Ronaldo had converted his fourth goal in three games since re-signing for Manchester United, poking home from close range on 35 minutes after Lukasz Fabianski had spilled the initial effort.

West Ham had taken the lead five minutes previously when Said Benrahma's strike from outside the area went in after taking a huge deflection off defender Raphael Varane.
