Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe has expressed his delight at Gareth Southgate's comments over his future with England.
Southgate claimed last month that the player was a step away from getting called up to the national team having featured for the juniors previously; the player saying he was grateful to hear such words come out from the manager.
"I feel really grateful that he's (Southgate) speaking about me like that in such a positive way. But I've got to keep working hard, keep my head down and I know the opportunity will come. I've just got to make sure I'm ready for it.
"It is always an honour to represent my country whatever level it is. The seniors have a really strong team at the moment so I always know it is going to be difficult.
"I've just got to keep my head down and stay focused and keep doing what I am doing and hopefully I'll get that opportunity in the future," he said.
Rowe has been an important player for Arsenal in the league and is highly rated among those in England set up even though the talent at Southgate disposal in his position has made it hard for the player to make the leap into the senior team.
