Man United’s former keeper Romero on being made to train alone

Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero has opened up on a painful end to his Manchester United career.

After six years of being a second-choice goalkeeper to David de Gea, things became even worse when the Red Devils signed Dean Henderson to make Romero a third option.

Romero finally left United as a free agent in July 2021.

The 34-year-old has confirmed the final season at Old Trafford was a bitter pill to swallow.

“It was a strange year for me, but I trained all year at Manchester United. Some days I was training by myself, because the squad was preparing for a game,” he said, via The Sun.

Romero then confirmed that he is now in a better mental and emotional state at his new club Venezia in Serie A.

“I feel good, I worked in Argentina too and want to prove I'm the same Sergio who was at Sampdoria and then Manchester,” he concluded.
