'Fred is a little worker ant' says Vickery

South African expert reporter Tom Vickery has given insightful credit to Manchester United's underappreciated midfielder Fred.

Fred turned heads after dishing out a stellar performance as Brazil drew 0-0 with Argentina to secure a place at next year's 2022 FIFA World Cup finals.

The United midfielder's glowing numbers included an 83% passing accuracy, eight successful tackles
and four successful dribbles.

The return Vickery to describe Fred as a 'little worker ant.'

"He's certainly not a glamorous player, and when United took that defeat against Liverpool the other week, there were questions in Brazil about picking a midfielder who had been in a side that had just suffered that kind of defeat," Vickery told United's media.

"He made his name with Internacional in the south of Brazil, so not in Rio or Sao Paolo, the big media centres, and that means that he doesn’t have a big media constituency. He’s a little worker ant who has to fight for everything that he gets."

Meanwhile the 28-year-old is expected to feature in the Red Devils' trip to Vicarage Road this weekend.
