Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has revealed midfielder Granit Xhaka could make an earlier return from injury than expected.
Xhaka has been on the sidelines since picking up a serious knee ligament injury during Arsenal's 3-1 win over Tottenham in the north London derby back in late September.
Ahead of Arsenal's weekend clash against Newcastle United, Arteta revealed the Swiss international is now expected to be available 'sooner than expected' as he is recovering well.
"Hopefully he will be a little bit sooner than expected, he is training and pushing himself and all the staff so hard like he always does. He is in a good place, he is evolving well, and hopefully, we can have him a little bit earlier. It is still a bit early to decide," Mikel Arteta told the club's official website.
"I hope so, yes," the Spaniard responded when asked if the 29-year-old could be available before the end of the year.
