2021 AFCON: A reminder of the group pairings ahead of January's big kick-off

The countdown is on for Africa's biggest football tournament, the Africa Cup of Nations, which is set for January 2022 in Cameroon.

The tournament had been scheduled to take place between June and July 2021, but just like many sporting events, was postponed following the COVID-19 outbreak.

Preparations are ongoing, with CAF releasing the official match ball named “Toghu” after the traditional outfit that is very popular in Cameroon.

Algeria, who are in Group E alongside Equatorial Guinea, Ivory Coast, and Sierra Leone are the defending champions following their 2019 triumph.

As the countdown to Africa's biggest sporting event, here is a reminder of how the groups look like;

The first match will be played on Sunday, 09 January 2022 at Olembe Stadium between hosts Cameroon and Burkina Faso.

The final will be played on February 6th.
