🇰🇪 KPL Roundup: Leaders Kakamega Homeboyz beat KCB in five-goal thriller; Gor, Wazito win

Kenyan League leaders Kakamega Homeboyz extended their lead at the top with a comfortable 3-1 win over second-placed KCB on Sunday afternoon.

KCB took a 15th-minute lead from the spot, but the Kakamega-based side equalised five minutes from the breakthrough Yema Mwana.

Omengo Estone added a second for the visitors five minutes into the second half before Yema completed his brace ten minutes from time.

KCB then got a second in the 86th minute to set a tense final five minutes, but the leaders held on for the points.

The win took them to 31 points, five ahead of second-placed Nairobi City Stars, who stunned defending champions Tusker 1-0 at the Ruaraka Grounds.

In another match, Wazito beat Nzoia Sugar 2-1 to halt a run of three consecutive losses.

First-half goals for Michael Owino and James Kinyanjui gave the moneybags a 2-0 lead at the break and eventually set them on the path to victory despite a late goal from the visitors.

This was the first match for Wazito without coach Francis Kimanzi, who left with his entire backroom staff early this week.

In another match, Gor Mahia scored two late goals to see off a determined Talanta FC.

The win, Gor's second in a row saw them move third on the table on 25 points from 13 games.
