Following a run of four league games without a win, Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has admitted that the side is short of confidence but lauded the team’s character after the 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Wednesday 5th December.
Matic won the Premier League man of the match award after his fine display in the game that saw United twice come back from behind to salvage a point. Matic has been instrumental for Manchester United in recent games as he was deployed in the center back position in the 2-2 draw against Southampton after injuries to Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling.
The Serbian admitted that the team’s confidence is not at its peak, “Both teams attacked. It was a great game for the supporters but I thought we deserved a point. Everyone knows the confidence is not high, but this is the fight that we have to show. Everyone is ready to play wherever the manager asks.”
The former Chelsea midfielder noted that Arsenal were lucky not to have shipped in the third goal, “All of us know we are in a tough patch of form and everyone is giving everything to help us through," he said.
“Everyone is digging in. We were on the front foot and pressing them because we know they like to play and I thought we were unlucky not to get the third goal.”
