Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino aimed a slight dig at his naysayers after bagging the manager of the year at the London Football Awards on Thursday night and made a gag about finally winning a trophy.
Pochettino bagged the award after fending off competition from Watford's Javi Gracia and Chelsea's under-fire manager Maurizio Sarri. Despite suffering back to back defeats at the hands of Chelsea and Burnley, Spurs are still in the top four and are in a strong position to proceed to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League after beating Borussia Dortmund 3-0 in the first leg.
Speaking after bagging the award, Pochettino made a gag about finally winning a trophy, "Like some people joke before - finally I got a trophy! It is a great honor for me, of course. Always an award means a lot for everyone and I want to say thank you to the foundation and of course for these London awards."
