Nemanja Vidic identifies where Man United need to strengthen
As the transfer window approaches with each passing day, former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has revealed that the club should sign a central midfielder despite acknowledging that he would like to see Toby Alderweireld at the club.
A clause inserted in Alderweireld's one-year contract extension stated that Spurs must accept any bid of £25million for the Belgian this summer, should such an offer come in before the final two weeks of the transfer window. Vidic, however, believes that United need to buy a central midfielder and reports have linked the club with Paris Saint Germain ace Adrien Rabiot.
Speaking in an interview with Stadium Astro, Vidic revealed that United should prioritize signing a central midfielder, "Of course, I would like to see him (Alderweireld) there. But I think the club has to have a priority. What I see is, if you want to be in the Champions League next season and challenge for the Premier League, you have to strengthen the midfield.
"You need that depth in the midfield area. In defence they already have five players, so they can rotate, and it seems like they're doing well."
